Foreign Office: End Sexual Violence in Conflict

Published 04 Jun 2014 | 0 min read

We recently made this emotional animated film for the Foreign Office’s campaign to End Sexual Violence in Conflict with the help of animator, Andy Baker. Rape and sexual violence are used as a weapon of war around the world. They destroy whole communities and ruin the lives of women and men, boys and girls. Their effects last long beyond the original crimes, but it is not an inevitable part of war.

In Nigeria we’ve recently seen two hundred girls kidnapped from their school by an Islamic militant group, known for forcing previous victims into sexual slavery. Next week, the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, co-hosted by Angelina Jolie, aims to put an end to the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war by:

  • Improving documentation and investigation of sexual violence in conflict through launching the new International Protocol
  • Providing greater support and assistance to survivors of sexual violence, including children
  • Ensuring women are fully integrated in all peace and security efforts
  • Improving international co-ordination

The video was launched yesterday and we’d love for you to help share it via your website or social media channels to help put an end to sexual violence in conflict. Here is the link to more information about the campaign: It’s #TimeToAct
