Who shows up for us when we need them most?
Every day, millions of public service workers make a difference to our lives. From the moments that change someone's future to the everyday acts of care and support that go unnoticed, they're the people who keep the nation running.
But how often do we, or the government, stop to recognise the difference they make?
That's the thinking behind We Show Up, our new creative platform for UNISON, the UK's largest public service union. A campaign built around a simple truth: public service workers show up for us every day. Now it's time we all showed up for them.
At the heart of the work is an emotive brand film telling the intimate human stories of three public service workers, revealing the profound impact their work has on the lives of others. Rather than focusing solely on the jobs they do, the film celebrates the people they help, the opportunities they create and the futures they make possible.
Directed by Elena Heatherwick through New-land, the film shines a light on the often unseen contribution of public service workers and reminds us just how much we depend on them.
Taking the platform beyond the screen, we also created a striking statue installation in Westminster, depicting a nurse, a librarian and a refuse collector. Positioned in the shadow of Parliament, the installation gives everyday public service workers the kind of recognition traditionally reserved for historic leaders and national figures.
Launching ahead of the government's first Budget, We Show Up is both a celebration and a call for change. Because while public service workers continue to show up for the nation, recognition alone isn't enough.
It's time for the government to show up for them, with the investment, support and recognition they deserve.
